Before embarking on the renovation of their New Jersey beach house, the homeowners envisioned a sophisticated kitchen with clean lines, stainless steel appliances and a color palette of soft wood tones. They achieved this look with simple frameless cabinetry in maple with a natural finish. A rounded island finished in Dark Red Mahogany provides contrast and gives guests a place to come together, outside of the work area.

Designing cabinetry along the curved wall required some careful planning.
Crown Point designer John Napsey plotted the dimensions of the curve with CAD software, ensuring that all twenty-three doors and eighteen drawers fit precisely with ample clearance.
At the far end of the kitchen, a tall cabinet keeps the microwave within easy reach. Pantry storage above and below offers a place to store snacks and other kitchen necessities.

The absence of decorative details such as toekick treatments and moulding add to the clean, modern look.
Two clear glass doors take the place of a traditional window over the sink, breaking up the run and adding visual interest.
Open shelving on either end of the island provide additional storage and display space.

Afternoon light streams in through several well-placed windows, and reflects beautifully off the countertop and stainless steel appliances.
Glass subway tile in a neutral color adds texture above the contrasting stone countertop. Flecks of color within the tile unify the warm tones of the ceiling, wood floor and cabinetry.

Preparing meals behind the integrated cooktop is a pleasant task for any cook as he looks out on stunning panaramic views of the ocean.

For continuity, the homeowners chose contemporary hardware to match the integrated stainless steel appliances.

The modern, sophistocated look of the kitchen is carried over to the masterbath. Finished in a Chestnut stain, the frameless vanity cabinet and matching mirror frames create a stunning contrast against white walls and a marble countertop.

The medicine cabinet features reeded frosted glass, and rests on the countertop keeping everyday items within easy reach. To the left of the medicine cabinet is a single sink, and to the right, a dropped counterspace for applying makeup.
A saber-foot toekick detail is an elegant touch at the base of the vanity.
