The warmth of Quartersawn Oak is the perfect complement to dark soapstone countertops and porcelain tile flooring. A peninsula provides additional workspace and acts as a convenient staging area for the dining room. Modern stainless steel appliances are beautifully integrated throughout the kitchen and a stainless steel farmhouse sink affords views of a lush backyard.

In the peninsula, a slatted dog gate with mission pegging and custom routing detail secures a cozy den for the client's dachshunds.

Cabinetry above the peninsula features clear glass doors with true lite muntins. The open look is a nice touch amidst the solid Craftsman doors throughout the rest of the kitchen.

A wine refrigerator resides at the end of the peninsula.

A simple Mission moulding tops the upper cabinetry which is bumped out at varying depths along the wall adding visual interest.

The glass doors are gracefully wrapped around the corner for access from both sides.

A microwave is set into the cabinet above the countertop, and a tall pantry on the right provides storage.

A custom paneled range hood features three routed holes with wispy maple glass showing through.

To the right of the range and just to the left of the sink are two dishwasher drawers, concealed by Quartersawn Oak appliance panels.

This bright corner alcove, formerly a large closet off of the kitchen, has been transformed into a sun-drenched breakfast nook.

The simple but sturdy table consists of a large piece of soapstone atop two square paneled columns.

Beneath the bench seats, extra deep drawers extend 36 inches. Additional storage rolls out from the seat backs, and the bench seat itself hinges up for even more space beneath the windows.

Still in the kitchen, a multipurpose desk creates a central area for paying bills, answering emails and organizing paperwork.

Open shelving above the desk accommodates the DVD player and television, visible from the banquette and kitchen.

The custom rout detail with wispy maple glass is repeated on the valance beneath the television.

Mission details such as planking, panels and brackets are utilized to add character to this authentic Craftsman piece.

This corner is a beautiful take on the everyday mudroom. Ideal for a busy family, this seating space is complete with hooks for coats, a shelf for hats and storage below. Sliding paneled doors are custom routed for ventilation, and the end of the bench stands out with wispy maple glass peeking through.
